I've tried both 35mm slide and color negatives and the software does a good job of color rendition, even with negatives.Īll and all it's a nice accessory if you have need for transparency or negative scanning. The HP software takes care of all settings from there. The Slide/Negative scanner plugs into your Scanjet 4600 panel (socket is right next to the front panel push buttons) and sits in two guide holes on the glass side of the scanner surface. Regulatory model identification number For regulatory identification purposes, your product is assigned a Regulatory Model Number. You use Virtual PC to open a window which runs a full version of Windows XP SP3 and then you can install the HP Photo and Imaging software there. I solved this problem by downloading Microsoft's Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode software which allows XP to run on my Windows 7 Professional PC. It does NOT work with Windows 7, Vista, 8, 8.1 or 10. This software works with Windows XP or earlier. First off, one needs to be aware that this item only works with the original HP Photo and Imaging software that comes with the Scanjet 4600 series scanners.
